Admissions are given on merit and past academic
performance. The admission
schedule and requirements are announced in leading newspapers at least 6-8 weeks in advance of the start of the semester. |

The Department offers bachelor and master
degree programs during morning hours.
Students are required to clear 24 courses in 4 semesters, in order to get a degree of
M.L.I.S. The basic information about each degree is given below:
Bachelor
of Library and Information Science(Morning and Evening)
The Bachelors in
Library and Information Science degree
is awarded to those students who want to
leave the study after completion of
first year. The B.L.I.S. program comprises
of two semesters. This program consists
of 12 courses of 40 credit hours. Out of
these, 11 courses are compulsory and 1
is elective. Students are awarded with a
degree of B.L.I.S. upon completion
of the course.
Master
of Arts
in Library and Information Science
The Masters Program
is designed to provide a comprehensive
study of librarianship. The M.L.I.S. program
comprises of two semesters. This program
consists of 25 courses of 60 credit
hours. Out of these, 24 courses are
compulsory and thesis is elective.
Students are awarded with a Degree of
Masters in Library and Information
Science upon completion of the course.
Advance
Certification in Library and Information Science. The Course will be offered to
the librarians already having a professional degree i.e. MLIS (Master’s in
Library & Information Science) only those will be given the admission who
has got MLIS before or in 2007.duration
of the course will be of Six months

Academic
Requirements |

For B.L.I.S. program,
the applicants must have a minimum of
50% marks in their Bachelor's Degree.
Applicants for the Master's Degree must
have a degree of Bachelor of Library and
Information Science with a minimum of
50% marks. |
