Welcome to Department

Welcome to the Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Karachi. The Department of Library and Information Science is dedicated to educating individuals in the competencies needed for traditional and emerging careers in librarianship. The department is the first institution in Pakistan to offer Library and Information Science education at University level. For over 50 years, the department has educated individuals to work insw libraries, information agencies, and other information professions.

60th Foundation Day Seminar

On the 60th Foundation day of the department of Library and Information Science, University of karachi, a seminar has been organized to be held on wed, 10th August 2016 at 9am. in the Arts Auditorium of university of karachi. It will be an oppertunity of alumni reunion and a step towards publication of alumni directory. All alumni of the department from 1956 onward are invited to attend and get registeration. the registration form is available in the department as well as on the registration desk outside the auditorium on the 10th august. Milad-e-Mustafa (Sallalah-o-Alaihe Waalehi Wassalam)

Following the practice of yesteryears, the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Karachi arranged Milad in the premises of the department with spiritual zeal and fervor on Friday, 5th November. It was attended by all the present and former faculty members and the students of the department. The students enthusiastically participated in the religious activity and presented the renowned and famous Naatia Kalam to show their attachment and affection with the virtuous character of the Prophet (SAW). In the end, duaa for the well-being of Muslim Ummah, our beloved country Pakistan, and University of Karachi was invoked. click here for picture galery
